The Longest Routes From Auckland Airport This Month
Doha and New York take first and second place, respectively. New Zealand's airport, Auckland, is home to the longest route, connecting the country to more international ports than any other. Qatar Airways holds the crown with a daily service between the Middle East and Aotearoa, a total distance of 9,011 miles. While New Zealand has long been a hub for international flights, Air New Zealand recently launched its flagship New York JFK service, with a distance of 8,813 miles. The route is also the most serviced by two carriers, with Air NZ and Qantas taking the same aircraft variant three times weekly. Other notable destinations include Chicago O'Hare and Dallas/Fort Worth, while Vancouver and Los Angeles are the sole Canadian connections.

Regarding New Zealand, Auckland connects the country to more international ports than any other, and given New Zealand's isolated location at the bottom of the Pacific, it's no wonder it is also home to some extraordinarily long flights.
While NZ shut up shop over the pandemic, closing the border to practically anyone who wasn't a New Zealand citizen, the floodgates are now well and truly open, and the airport is bustling with activity, even though it has seen floods and challenges with long waits in customs of late.
Doha-based Qatar Airways holds the crown in Auckland for operating the longest route, with a daily service between the Middle East and Aotearoa (NZ). The airline deploys its state-of-the-art Airbus A350-1000, a total distance of 9,011 miles.
New York and Dubai are up next
While there have always been plenty of services between NZ and the United States West Coast, Air New Zealand has recently pushed the envelope and commenced its new flagship New York JFK service aboard the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, with a distance of 8,813 miles. Air NZ launched the route three times weekly, and now, to increase competition on the route, Qantas has launched the AKL to JFK service with the same aircraft variant since June.
Emirates A380 graces not one but two destinations in New Zealand, Auckland, and Christchurch, and while Christchurch is a one-stop service via Sydney, the Auckland connection is direct at 8,810 miles. The daily service is popular and easily connects to the many destinations at the Emirati hub.
Chicago O'Hare and Dallas/Fort Worth round out the top five, with Air New Zealand heading to the windy city and American Airlines connecting to Texas. The distance between these two is 8,180 and 7,439 miles, respectively.
Air New Zealand is hot on the heels of America's service to Dallas, with its own Boeing 777-300ER serving Houston daily from Auckland. The service sits at 7,414 miles. Given that Auckland is home to Air NZ, it's no surprise that Vancouver comes in 7th, its sole connection to Canada, with a distance of 7,043 miles, and has 21 services to British Colombia for October.
San Francisco wins 8th place, with both Air New Zealand and United Airlines deploying the Boeing 777 on the route (Air NZ the 777-300ER variant), where the 6,516-mile connection sees 38 services this month combined between the two carriers, making it the most serviced route by number of flights in the top ten.
Coming in closely behind is the City of Angels, with Los Angeles having Air New Zealand serve the route with the 777-300ER for the 6,504-mile trip. Delta Air Lines will commence its Auckland service from October 28th, poised to operate year-round. United Airlines will also resume the route on October 30th.
In tenth place is Air China's link to Beijing, at a distance of 6,462, it's only a fraction behind the distance to Los Angeles, and Auckland will see return flights to the Chinese capital this month.
